Biking

The Gastern valley is a fairly easy mountain biking tour. Bikes can be hired in Kandersteg.

Botany

The Gastern valley is a delight for botanists. In June the meadows are covered in wild flowers and there are many wild orchids (e.g. ladies slipper) to be seen.
